Hemp+lime (“hempcrete”) is a democratizing and empowering building material that sequesters carbon inside the walls of buildings for 100 years. Walls can be built by hand, or with pre-cured blocks and panels.
Hemp+lime (“hempcrete”) insulation is fire-resistant, mold proof, pest proof and moderates internal temperature and humidity.
Europeans and Canadians have been building structures with hemp since the 1990s. In the USA, hemp was just legalized in the 2018 Farm Bill. In September, hempcrete will officially be certified in US building codes, creating more opportunity in this growing, brand new industry.
