Starting And Scaling A Nonprofit Organization (Panel Discussion)

As a nonprofit leader, you have a lot on your plate! You’re always looking for involved and engaged Board members and how to generate more funds for your mission. All while running your programs and serving the people and causes you love. The last few years have taught us about the need to build greater resiliency into our programs and to prepare an organization for growth so it can make an even greater impact in the community.

Come hear a panel of nonprofit founders speak about their experiences starting and operating nonprofit organizations. This is a great chance to learn from those who have been through the mill if you’re thinking about or have already formed a nonprofit.

You’ve got the passion. Now it’s time to work on capacity building to effectively maintain and grow a thriving nonprofit.

Moderator: Kim Fisher, Vision Catalyst

Panelists:

After the panel, join us and other nonprofit leaders at the Happy Hour Kickoff Event (a separate Eventbrite RSVP is required).

Grant Writing Tips and Tricks (Workshop)

Fundraising grants can be the lifeblood of nonprofit organizations. Join Alex Koenigsberg of Arula Consulting for a discussion of various strategies learned from years of applying to a variety of grants. Instead of merely focusing on grant writing fundamentals, you’ll learn new ways to improve your grant writing process and the final product.

Alex is the president and founder of Arula. He started the company in 2018, having nearly ten years in the nonprofit world, after realizing that every grant writer he met required payment of their fee upfront. Alex knew there was a more equitable way and decided to tap his own knowledge and experience to provide this service, while sharing in the risk with the nonprofits. Alex and the team at Arula assist dozens of nonprofits and initiatives, mostly in Colorado but also throughout the country.

Alex also works as the Business Development Officer for Quorum Prosthetics. He is responsible for a myriad of initiatives at each company, including: sales, partnerships, marketing, investments, grants, loans, and more. During Alex’s tenure (and thanks to the company’s amazing team), Quorum has opened a new 3D printing manufacturing facility.

Developing Your Nonprofit Board (Workshop)

Nonprofits are always challenged with attracting and retaining quality board members. How do you effectively, recruit, train and recognize quality volunteers so they remain actively involved in advancing the mission of your organization?  This workshop will provide some basic information that will help you to create a solid foundation for board development and provide an opportunity for you to ask some specific questions relevant to your organization.

Art Bavoso (MS.Ed) is the founder, owner and President of Third Sector Enterprises, Inc., His professional experience in the nonprofit field spans many decades and includes senior leadership positions at Partners Mentoring Youth, Larico Youth Homes, United Way, Colorado State University and the Health District of Northern Colorado. He is a specialist in board development, strategic planning, group facilitation and all aspects of fund raising (including donor qualification surveys, capital campaigns and planned giving).

Art remains active in the community affairs in Fort Collins, being a member of the Foothills Rotary Club for 43 years, serving as a President, and being awarded its Rotarian of the Year for 2013-1014.
